TEAM NOTES
- The Green Wave's win over Missouri State handed Tulane its 16th straight win against teams from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
- Tulane's 52-point victory over Missouri State was its largest win since 1998 when it defeated UL-Lafayette (72-20).
- Tulane improved to 7-2 in its last nine games dating back to last season.
- The Green Wave improved to 2-0 at home. Tulane has not opened a season 2-0 at home since 2000.
- Team captains for today's game were QB Justin McMillan, DB Larry Bryant, PK Randy Harvey, RB Corey Dauphine.
- Redshirt freshman RB Ygenio Booker carried the New Orleans flag. Junior RB Stephon Huderson carried the American Athletic Conference Power 6 flag.
- Graduate transfer WR Jalen McCleskey carried the No. 18 flag in honor of Devon Walker.
- With the win, head coach Willie Fritz improved to 211-96-1 all-time.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- The Green Wave offensive starters were QB Justin McMillan, RB Amare Jones, RB Stephon Huderson, TE Tyrick James, WR Darnell Mooney, WR Jalen McCleskey, OL Ben Knutson, OL Keyshawn McLeod, OL Corey Dublin, OL Christian Montano and OL Joey Claybrook.
- Mooney made his 31st consecutive start, while Dublin made his 28th straight start.
- Tulane has now outscored its opponents by a 100-20 count in home games this season.
- The Green Wave surpassed 500 total yards for the second straight home game.
- Tulane scored on its opening drive for the third straight game.
- On the first play of the game, Mooney hauled in an 11-yard catch and became the 11th wide receiver in program history to surpass 2,000 career yards.
- Jones entered the game with 167 all-purpose yardage. In the first half alone, Jones totaled 169 all-purpose yardage.
- The Green Wave have now surpassed 100 yards rushing in 43 straight games. Tulane finished the game with 298 yards rushing.
- Redshirt freshman RB Ygenio Booker (rushing), freshman RB Tyjae Spears (receiving) each scored their first career touchdown.
- Spears' touchdown reception went for 88 yards and came from QB Keon Howard. The 88-yard touchdown pass was the Green Wave's longest play of the season.
- Howard's 88-yard touchdown pass was his first in a Tulane uniform.
- McMillan finished with 171 total yards (122 passing and 49 rushing).
- McMillan's two rushing touchdowns tied his career-high. The last time he rushed for a pair of touchdowns was back on Oct. 27, 2018 at Tulsa.
- Since taking over as the team's starter last season, McMillan has thrown for 12 touchdowns and just six interceptions.
- McMillan improved to 7-2 as a starter. He is a perfect 3-0 at home as a starter.
- Tulane's offensive line did not allow a sack for the second straight game. The last time Tulane did not allow a sack in back-to-back games was in 2013.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- The Green Wave defensive starters were DL Patrick Johnson, LB Marvin Moody, CB Jaylon Monroe, DL De'Andre Williams, DL Cameron Sample, S P.J. Hall, LB Nick Anderson, FS Chase Kuerschen, S Will Harper, NT Jeffery Johnson and CB Thakarius Keyes.
- Anderson made his first career start.
- Tulane's defensive unit held Missouri State to just 182 yards of total offense.
- Tulane's secondary finished the night with three interceptions. The last time Tulane had three interceptions was back on Oct. 3, 2015 (UCF).
- Sophomore Larry Brooks hauled in a career-best two interceptions. He became the first Tulane student-athlete to haul in two interceptions since Parry Nickerson did so back on Nov. 8, 2014 (Houston).
- Hall recorded the second interception of his career. He then returned his second career interception 30 yards for his first career touchdown.
- Graduate transfer Mike Hinton and redshirt freshman Jamiran James both totaled a team-high total of five tackles. James' five tackles were a career high.
- Graduate transfer Malik Lawal recorded his first sack in a Tulane uniform.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- The Green Wave recovered an onside kick for the first time since Nov. 12, 2016 against Houston.
- Jones finished with 81 return yards (60 kickoff, 21 punt). Jones finished the game with 90 all-purpose yards.
- Redshirt kicker Merek Glover drilled a 23-yard field goal.
