NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's tennis head coach Maria Brito announced the signing of five-star recruit Brooke Theis to a National Letter of Intent during the NCAA's Early Signing Period. She is the first member of the Green Wave's 2021 signing class.
"We are delighted to welcome Brooke to the Tulane family," Brito said. "We saw her make a huge improvement during the recruiting process, and we know that with her work ethic, dedication and competitive spirit that she will be a great fit in our program's culture."
Theis attends Lake Forest High School in Illinois and currently ranks as the No. 56 prospect nationally and No. 7 in the state in the 2020 class according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. Among her long list of achievements, she qualified for the 2020 USTA National Winter Championships where she reached the second round in singles and the round of 16 in doubles.
In 2019, Theis won a doubles national title in New Orleans at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic. That came just weeks before she qualified and competed in the 2019 USTA U18 National Indoor Championships where she reached the doubles semifinals at the exact same tournament one year prior.
In July 2017, Theis swept the singles and doubles crowns at the Florida Open. She also reached the singles quarterfinals of the 2017 National Hardcourt Championships and the 2017 National Clay Court Championships. Theis was also the No. 1 ranked player in the Midwest Region as she matured through the U10-U16 age groups.
