
Five Bowlers Named to SBL All-Academic Team

FRISCO, Texas – Four Tulane bowlers were named to the 2019-20 Southland Bowling League All-Academic team, the league announced Monday.Â

Senior Isabelle Lee earned the honor for the second straight year, while sophomores Crystal Singh and Veronica Petrinec and freshmen Amelia Vasquez and Jenica Baron were named to the team for the first time in their careers.

Lee finished her career at Tulane second on the team with an 8.92 pins per frame average. She placed 19th and averaged 197.60 pins per game at the Track Kat Klash. The Singapore native led the Green Wave at the UMES Hawk Classic as she finished fifth. She also placed 11th at the Mid-Winter Invitational. Lee graduated with a degree in biochemistry and logged a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Vasquez finished seventh with a pin average of 217.0 at the Blue & White Vegas Classic. She placed sixth at the Wildcat Classic with a pin average of 196.83. The Oviendo, Florida, native knocked down 1,181 pins at the Wildcat Classic. Vasquez finished 17th and tops for the Green Wave with a 204.80 pin average at the Ladyjack Hammer Classic. She closed the All State Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational in 24th with a pin average of 189.0. Vasquez finished her first season in Uptown with a 3.94 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology.

Baron finished 30th and logged a 187.20 pin average at Wildcat Classic. She placed in the top 100 of every tournament of the season. The Barrington, Illinois native bowled a 251 against Sam Houston State at the Track Kat Klash. Baron is currently a public health and psychology double-major and closed her freshman year with a 3.70 GPA.

Singh finished 26th with a pin average of 168.17 at the Wildcat Classic. She placed 23rd with a pin average of 202.00 at the Ladyjack Hammer Classic. The Coral Springs, Florida, native finished 21st with a pin average of 193.6 at Track Kat Klash. Singh closed the school year with a 3.78 cumulative GPA while majoring in English and psychology.
Petrinec finished 24th at the Blue & White Vegas Classic. She placed 41st at the Wildcat Classic. The Titusville, Florida native finished in the top 100 at every tournament this season. Petrinec closed the year with a 3.896 cumulative GPA and a 4.0 in the spring semester while majoring in political science and sociology.Â
