
Women’s Swimming and Diving Adds Caroline Alonzo to 2020-21 Roster

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University swimming and diving announced the addition of Caroline Alonzo as the newest member of the Green Wave's 2020 Recruiting Class. Alonzo will compete in diving and will join the team in the fall.Â

Alonzo arrives in Uptown following a decorated athletics career at Oak Ridge High School in Texas where she earned UIL All-America Honorable Mention honors in each of her four seasons in high school.Â

"Caroline is a tremendous addition to our 2020 signing class and I know she will be able to come in and contribute immediately to our team," Tulane diving coach John Sirmon said. "She comes from a great high school program and we are very fortunate to welcome her to our team this fall."

Alonzo enters Tulane after competing in the Texas Division XI State Regional Championships in each of her for seasons in high school. She also earned a bid as an alternate competitor at the Texas State Championships as a senior. Alonzo developed a strong leadership reputation during her high school career, as she was named captain in both her junior and senior seasons.

Away from the water, Alonzo was impressive in the classroom, as she became the first individual from Oak Ridge High School to receive First Team Academic All-State honors.Â

In addition, Alonzo excelled in gymnastics and rowing. As a gymnast, she captured the Texas State Champion crown. As a rower, she earned gold and silver in the BSA SHAC Small Boat Regatta Championships.
