
Tulane Football Welcomes Derrion Rakestraw From Colorado

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University football team announced today the addition of former Colorado Buffaloes star defensive back Derrion Rakestraw to its 2021 roster as a graduate transfer.
Rakestraw comes to Tulane following a productive career at Colorado where he saw action in 41 career games with the Buffaloes. In 41 career games, the Woodstook, Georgia, native totaled 109 tackles, nine pass breakups and four interceptions.
This past season, Rakestraw finished second on the team in tackles, as he tallied 35 stops (28 solo).
Rakestraw began his collegiate career as a wide receiver, as he spent 2016 and the spring of 2017 on offense before moving to the defensive side of the ball in the fall of 2017. In addition, Rakestraw played both safety and cornerback.
Rakestraw joins running back Devin Brumfield (Utah), cornerback Lance Robinson (Kansas State) and wide receiver Cyron Sutton (McNeese State), who have joined the team this offseason.
