NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University student-athletes completed one of the strongest academic semesters on record in the Fall of 2020, registering a departmental grade point average of 3.283. The mark is the highest ever recorded for a fall semester by the Green Wave.
Â
Sixteen of the Green Wave's 17 athletic programs posted a team GPA of over 3.0 for the term. Nearly 71 percent of the department's 336 student-athletes posted a GPA above 3.0, while 42 percent recorded a 3.5 or higher.
"Our student-athletes' success in the classroom amidst a global pandemic has been nothing short of remarkable," Tulane Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. "Our academic and coaching staffs also deserve to be congratulated for their diligence toward our student-athletes' academic outcome. We look forward to another great semester this spring."
Â
Tulane also had 25 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.Â
Â
"Even during a semester that was unlike any other our student-athletes' academic performance standards never wavered, as they raised the bar once again," senior associate athletics director for academic services Dr. Charvi Greer said. "This is a testament to the commitment they all put into their studies, and we look forward to witnessing their continued success."
Five teams recorded their highest single term GPAÂ on record, including baseball (3.367), men's basketball (3.439), sailing (3.615), bowling (3.843) and beach volleyball (3.612).
