Oct 7, 2021 | Women's Swimming and Diving
New Orleans – The Tulane swimming and diving team kicks off its 2021-2022 campaign on the road at University of Arkansas – Little Rock on Friday.Â
"The team has been very consistent in their effort and focus at practice" head coach Leah Stancil said. "I am looking forward to our team showing off their talents and racing skills. We are very excited to compete this weekend."Â
The meet begins at 11 a.m. in the Donaghey Aquatic Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. The meet will include the University of Arkansas- Little Rock Trojans and the Air Force Academy Falcons. Â
This year's Olive and Blue roster features two seniors, five juniors, eight sophomores and five freshmen.Â
"Like everyone in the area, the team has been through a lot since Ida, but I've been really proud how they've continued to deal with adversity so early in the season" diving coach John Sirmon said. "On the diving side, this is still a young group with only one upperclassman, but I think we're building towards something special. We're poised for a strong season opener against a solid Airforce dive squad so it should be an exciting weekend.Â
Tulane wrapped up its 2020-21 regular season with the American Athletic Conference Championship in February, where three of the athletes' made trips to the podium. Â
Five divers and 19 swimmers will be making the trip for the Green Wave with the first event of the weekend being the 4x400 Medley relay.Â
At the AAC Championships last February, eleven members of Tulane's swimming and diving team reached career-best times and marks in the final day of AAC action.Â
