Feb 26, 2021 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane University sailing team will kick off the spring season at home this weekend at the Nelson Roltsch Team Race on Lake Pontchartrain.
Â
Tulane will hosts South Florida and Jacksonville for this weekend's co-ed and women's races. This marks Jacksonville's third straight year and South Florida's second straight year competing in the Nelson Roltsch Team Race.
Â
The first event of the weekend begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday. There will be 10 fleet races in two different divisions, A and B. Tulane will field four boats, USF two boats, and Jacksonville three boats.
Â
Sunday's action starts at 9:30 a.m. Tulane will have three boats on the water, USF one boat, and Jacksonville two boats. There will be six to eight races on Sunday, depending on the morning results.
Â
Tulane finished fourth out of eight teams in last year's Nelson Roltsch event on Lake Pontchartrain. Head coach Charles Higgins will look for his team to start the season on the right foot with a victory in their only home race of the year.
