- The Green Wave baseball team returns to action on Tuesday as they welcome in-state foe Southern University to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
- The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. The game will be aired live on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
- The Green Wave will look to continue their momentum following a 2-1 series victory over Western Kentucky this past weekend.
SERIES HISTORY
- Tulane's matchup with Southern will mark 31st time the two teams have met.
- The two teams met last year for a three-game weekend series with games one and three being played in New Orleans. The second game of the series was played at Southern University.
- Tulane owns a 27-3 edge in the all-time series.
- The Green Wave has won the last 16 meetings against Southern in a winning streak that dates back to 1989.

- Tulane enters its midweek contest with Southern with a .252 team batting average and an overall team earned run average of 4.25.
- The Green Wave rank among the league's top three in five offensive categories.
- Four Green Wave players own batting averages of .300-or-better
- The Green Wave have won each of their last midweek games inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, dating back to last season.
- RHP Tyler Hoffman (0-1) has started both midweek games for the Green Wave this year. In two appearances, Hoffman has worked 7.1 innings, posted 14 strikeouts and has allowed four earned runs.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
- Southern University enters its matchup with Tulane after it swept rival Grambling State University to move to 4-6 on the year.
- The Jaguars outscored Grambling 24-20 over the course of the three-game set.
- In game two of the series, the Jaguars needed extra innings to defeat the Tigers, as they scored a season-best 10 runs in the game.
- Southern has played all 10 of its games in the state of Louisiana this season.
- LHP Khristian Paul will make his first start of the season and his third appearance of the year.
- Prior to the season, Southern was picked to finish third in the West Division of the SWAC.
- SU interim head coach Chris Crenshaw took control of the program on Dec. 3 following the resignation of Kerrick Jackson, as he accepted a position within Major League Baseball.
RECAPPING THE WKU SERIES
- Tulane took two of three games against Western Kentucky this past weekend to claim its first series win of the year.
- The Green Wave fell behind early in games one and two, but rallied back to win both games.
- In the series finale on Sunday, Tulane held a 6-4 lead in the sixth, but WKU scored four runs in the seventh inning and held off the Green Wave down the stretch to secure the win.
- During the three-game set, Tulane batted .278 and posted a team ERA of 3.00.
- Freshman Jacob LaPrairie led the way for the Green Wave offensively, as he batted .429. He also led the team with five RBI.
- Bennett Lee and Ethan Groff both hit their first home runs of the year during the series.
TULANE BASEBALL MOVES TO 18 PERCENT CAPACITY
- Tulane University Athletics announced this week an increase in capacity for Green Wave baseball games inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
- In accordance with state, local and American Athletic Conference guidelines while maintaining six feet between seating pods, capacity for remaining games will increase to 18 percent.
- With this announced increase, Tulane Athletics has a limited number of tickets available to the general public for purchase.
- Fans can purchase tickets for the Western Kentucky (March 5-7) and Louisiana Tech (March 19-21) series matchups. In addition, fans can purchase tickets for mid-week matchups with Southern (March 9) and Texas Southern (March 17) while supplies last.
BURNS NOTICE
- Redshirt sophomore Collin Burns currently leads the team in batting (.354), hits (17), doubles (5) and triples (3).
- He leads The American in doubles and triples. His three triples also lead the nation.
- Burns opened the season by hitting safely in nine straight games.
- Five of his eight RBI have come with two outs.
STARTING STRONG
- Tulane freshman second baseman Chase Engelhard has made his presence felt in the first seven games of his collegiate career.
- Through 11 games, Engelhard has batted .306 to lead all Tulane freshmen.
- Eight of Engelhard's 11 hits have gone for extra bases.
- Engelhard currently leads the team in home runs with three.
OLTHOFF PICKS UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF
- Tulane right-handed pitcher Braden Olthoff was masterful on Feb. 26 at No. 5 Mississippi State, as he guided the Green Wave to a win over a Top 5 opponent since 2014.
- Olthoff struck out six batters in 8.0 innings of work while only allowing one run on just two hits en route to his first win of the season.
- In three outings this year, Olthoff owns a 2.50 earned run average and is holding opponents to a .250 batting average. He also leads the team with 18.0 innings pitched and 18 strikeouts.
SO CLOSE
- In the first three weekends of the collegiate baseball season, Tulane has suffered four losses by two runs or less.
- In its matchup with No. 5 Mississippi State this past weekend, Tulane was four outs away from completing a three-game sweep of the Bulldogs on the road.
- Tulane also held the lead in all three games at Mississippi State, heading into the bottom of the ninth.
- In the Green Wave's lone loss this past weekend against Western Kentucky, Tulane held a two-run lead heading into the seventh inning.
