Jul 29, 2021 | Football
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sophomore specialist Jha'Quan Jackson was one of 57 players named to the 2021 Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List on Thursday.
The Paul Hornung Award, now in its 12th season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in the memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville in March 2021.
Jackson received the award after he finished the season with 788 all-purpose yards. He also led the team in touchdown receptions (eight), tied for the lead in receptions (31) and was second on the squad in receiving yards (425).
The Luling, Louisiana native's recognition to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List adds to a growing list of preseason awards. Earlier this summer, he was selected to the AAC preseason all-league teams by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He also was named a preseason All-American by Pro Football Focus.
The 2021 Paul Hornung Award Watch List players represent 53 universities from all 10 football conferences, plus four independent schools, that are part of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The Paul Hornung Award has created an impressive legacy in 11 years including seven winners who were first round NFL draft pick
