
Griffin Named American Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Postgraduate Leadership Award Winner

NEW ORLEANS – Senior Jeni Griffin of the Tulane University swimming and diving team was named the recipient of the American Athletic Conference Commissioner's Postgraduate Leadership Award, the conference announced Tuesday.

The award is given to one male and one female student-athlete across the conference and includes a $5,000 scholarship to be applied to postgraduate education expenses and a trophy. Student-athletes are nominated by Faculty Athletic Representatives, Director of Athletics and athletic academic advisors. The conference FARs decide on the winners.

The Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., native opened her senior season with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke against Delta State. She set her career-best in the 100-yard butterfly at LSU on Dec. 14. During the meet in Baton Rouge, Griffin also finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. She also helped Tulane's 200-yard freestyle relay team finish first at West Florida on Jan. 30.

Griffin also served as Tulane's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President during her senior season. She graduated from Tulane with degrees in Public Health and Economics in May and plans to attend the University of Southern California Gould School of Law this fall. Griffin helped the Tulane swimming and diving team earn The American's Team Excellence Award and College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors in the 2019-20 season.
