NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University swimming and diving team was selected by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar All-America Team.
The Green Wave posted a team average 3.38 GPA during an adversity-filled fall. Greg Earhart, CSCAA Executive Director, highlighted Tulane's achievements noting, "Coach Stancil continues, year-in, year-out to do great things. These 22 women are some of the best ambassadors that Tulane and the American Athletic Conference could ask for."
"I am very proud of this team's grades for this semester," head coach Leah Stancil said. "Their ability to perform academically, despite numerous setbacks, is immensely impressive. Being displaced for a month because of Hurricane Ida brought some unique challenges for our athletes, but we have been fortunate to have skilled professionals within the athletic department's Academic Services to help keep our athletes focused.
By having a GPA over 3.30 the team is eligible for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.
"I couldn't be prouder of the team's accomplishments in the classroom," diving coach John Sirmon. "Being a college athlete is about being successful and learning to improve in all aspects including academics. We've got a hard-working group and it's great to celebrate all their achievements."
Tulane began the spring semester this week and look to continue their success both in the classroom and in the pool.
