Green Wave Enhances NIL Efforts with ASP ACADEMY
Oct 27, 2022 | General
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Athletics announced Thursday that it will take part in an innovative program set forth by Altius Sports Partners (ASP) as part of the department's continuing effort with regard to Name, Image and Likeness (NIL).
The program – ASP ACADEMY – ensures that all institutional stakeholders are provided education, awareness, and support to maximize athlete NIL opportunities. ASP ACADEMY, specifically created to support the NIL landscape of the institutions, will offer access to ongoing education and advisory services from ASP's industry leading team for management of the developing NIL space in addition to delivery of dedicated educational workshops for institutional stakeholders.
"We are thrilled to launch ASP Academy with our initial partners to provide our services at scale," Brittney Whiteside, ASP VP of Collegiate Partnerships, said. "As we enter year 2 of NIL, schools at all levels who are making the investment in providing best-in-class NIL support services and educational resources to athletes, coaches, staff and all other stakeholders will continue to be leaders in the space."
ASP ACADEMY is an extension of ASP's program offerings, which are rooted in steering and keeping its university partners ahead of the curve and compliantly enhancing NIL activities for their athletes. As ASP implements its latest program, it will continue to support all school partners through an advisory role in addition to providing continuing innovative and strategic guidance on policy and initiatives and customized educational support.
Thursday's announcement comes one month after INFLCR and Tulane announced the creation of Wave Exchange, an easy-to-navigate platform that is a free service to both student-athletes and third parties and serves as a central location for NIL opportunities involving Green Wave student-athletes. That portal connects businesses, collectives, donors, alumni and fans with student-athletes to explore, negotiate and enter into NIL transactions with zero transaction fees for all involved.
"We are thrilled to take part in ASP Academy," said Jana Woodson, Tulane Deputy Athletics Director, External Relations. "Today's announcement represents the latest step in providing our student-athletes with the necessary resources to fully realize all of the available benefits of NIL. With ASP's assistance, Tulane Athletics will continue to move that effort forward."
The Green Wave began its focus on NIL during the summer of 2020, culminating with its launch of the Wave Brand Works program in August. The program consisted of a panel that included four personal branding, social media and marketing professionals, including Patrick Curran, co-founder of Curran Sports, Will Baggett, founder of Emergent Executives, Jim Cavale, founder and CEO of INFLCR, and David Meltzer, co-founder of Sports 1 Marketing.
