AAC Announces Football Scheduling Model through 2026
Nov 9, 2022 | Football
IRVING, Texas  – The American Athletic Conference announced today the football home and away schedules for the next four years (2023-26). The scheduling model was unanimously approved by the American's athletic directors this week.
The 2023 season will be the American's first with 14 football-playing institutions. The new-look league will consist of Tulane, North Texas, SMU, UTSA, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Navy, South Florida, Temple, Tulsa and UAB.
The scheduling format calls for each team to play eight conference games each year. Each team will face the other 13 conference teams at least twice during the four-year cycle – once at home and once on the road.
The American will not have a divisional format during the four-year cycle. The top two teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the American Athletic Conference Championship Game.
In 2023, Tulane will host league newcomers North Texas, UTSA and UAB as well as current AAC member Tulsa. On the road, the Green Wave travels to Rice, Memphis, Florida Atlantic and East Carolina.
In 2024, Tulane hosts SMU, Rice, Memphis and Navy. The team plays Tulsa, UTSA, UAB and Temple on the road.
The 2025 season sees Tulane welcoming in South Florida, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina and Temple with road contests at North Texas, SMU, Charlotte and Navy.
The 2026 slate includes home games against Tulsa, North Texas, Charlotte and Navy while taking on Rice, Memphis, South Florida and East Carolina on the road.
The No. 16 nationally ranked Tulane football program welcomes in No. 22 UCF this Saturday, Nov 12, at 2:30 p.m. at Yulman Stadium. It is the first time that Tulane has hosted a fellow ranked opponent since 1949 when the school was still part of the Southeastern Conference and took on LSU. There are very limited seats still available for the game this weekend so please check out Tulanetix.com to get your tickets right away.
