Tulane Hosts Mississippi College for its First Exhibition Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will take the court for its first exhibition game prior to the 2023-24 regular season as it hosts Mississippi College in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse Thursday night.
 
The game is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. and tickets are available for $5. Fans can follow the action with live stats by clicking HERE.
 
This will be the first meeting between Tulane and the Mississippi College Choctaws. Mississippi College finished 15-14 and landed eighth in the Gulf South Conference last season.
The Green Wave returns for the 2023-24 campaign after its most successful season in the Ron Hunter era. Tulane finished with 12 conference wins, its most since joining the American Athletic Conference, and 12 wins at home, the most since 2013-14. It also marked the first season the Wave tallied 20 victories since the 2012-13 season.
 
Tulane led the country in pace of play last season averaging 77.0 possessions per game. The Green Wave also paced the AAC in scoring, free throw percentage, and assists.
 
This season, Tulane welcomes back eight letter winners, including three starters in Jaylen Forbes, Kevin Cross, and Sion James. Forbes and Cross earned preseason All-AAC honors with Forbes being a unanimous first team selection and Cross landing on the all-conference second team. Tulane was voted to finish third in the league this season behind Florida Atlantic and Memphis.
 
Forbes garnered his unanimous nod after finishing in top five in the league in scoring, free throw percentage, steals, three-point field goal percentage, three-point field goals made, and minutes played last season.
 
Tulane's core of returners will be complimented by a five transfers and pair of freshmen. The newcomers are highlighted by impact transfers Gregg Glenn III from Michigan and Kolby King from St. John's.
 
Over the summer, the Green Wave represented Team USA in the 2023 FISU World University Games in China and brought home the bronze medal by defeating Argentina in its final game. Tulane went 5-1 at the games with victories against Japan, Poland, South Korea, Argentina, and the eventual gold medal winner Czech Republic. Four players averaged double figures in scoring for Tulane as the team finished second in scoring in the games at 89.2 points per game.
