
Football’s Kam Pedescleaux Named AAC Defensive Player of the Week

New Orleans - Â After his outstanding play in the victory over the previously undefeated in league play UTSA on Friday, Tulane safety Kam Pedescleaux has been selected as the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Week.
Tulane (11-1, 8-0 AAC) defeated the Roadrunners by a 29-16 score on Nov. 24 with Pedescleaux playing a large part. He had a hand in two turnovers and had a key fourth-down stop to aid then No. 18 Tulane get the victory and send the Green Wave to the AAC Football Championship Game for the second straight season. Pedescleaux had six tackles, two pass breakups and a forced fumble to lead the defense that had five takeaways against the Roadrunners. He had a tipped ball on the opening possession that resulted in an interception at the UTSA 10-yard line, added a forced fumble on the Tulane 8 as the Roadrunners were threatening to score, and had a pass breakup on fourth down from the Tulane 10 in the fourth quarter.
On the season, Pedescleaux has totaled 45 tackles, four stops for loss, an interception, a forced fumble and a team-high 11 pass breakups.
Also recognized this week by the was Makhi Hughes as a member of the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Hguhes ran for a career-high 166 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Additionally Pedescleaux and Valentino Ambrosio were recognized by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA). Pedescleaux was named as the state's Defensive Player of the Week, while Ambrosio captured Special Team Player of the Week honors.
Pedescleaux is the third different Tulane player to be named the AAC's Player of the Week following Michael Pratt (9/4 & 10/23 - Offense) and Valentino Ambrosio (10/30 – Special Teams).
Tulane's defense leads the conference and is ranked fifth nationally in rushing yards allowed per game at 86.0. The squad also ranks third in the conference and 19th in the country in sacks at 2.75 per game. The program is placed second in the AAC in turnovers gained at 13. Individually, Lance Robinson leads the team and is placed third in the conference with his four interceptions. Darius Hodges and Patrick Jenkins are ranked fourth and seventh in the conference in sacks, respectfully. Valentino Ambrosio leads the conference with his 1.58 field goals per game. He also ranks fifth in the league in field goal percentage (79.2). Chris Brazzell II is placed 10th in the league in yards per catch (17.54). Lawrence Keys III is placed second in the AAC in yards per catch at 18.15. Keys is also tied for seventh in the league with his seven touchdowns scored. Makhi Hughes leads the conference in rushing with 1,246 yards. He is sixth in the league with seven rushing touchdowns.|
This week the #23/#18/#17Â Tulane football team hosts the AAC Football Championship Game for the second straight year at Yulman Stadium. The program takes on SMU (10-2, 8-0 AAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in game that will also be shown live on ABC.
