
O'Handley Leads Heptathlon Following First Day of Virginia Challenge

Charlottesville, Virginia – Tulane's Kristen O'Handley leads all competitors in the Heptathlon following the first day of competition at the Virginia Challenge on Thursday. The meet is being contested at Lannigan Field on the campus of University of Virginia.
O'Handley has totaled 3,489 points over the course of the first four events of the Heptathlon to lead the field by 15 points. Margot Temines is placed fourth overall with 3,343 points, while Laura Fodor is 13th with 2,740 points.
O'Handley led the Tulane trio in the 100m hurdles with her 14.04. She placed fourth overall. Temines earned fifth with a personal-best of 14.20. Fodor took 11th with a personal-best of 15.25.
O'Handley won the high jump with a personal-best 1.73m/5'8". Temines took sixth in the event with a season-best 1.67m/5'5.75'. Fodor ranked 15th in the high jump with a 1.46m/4'9.50".
Temines won the shot put with a season-best throw of 13.10m/42'11.75". O'Handley ranked ninth with an 11.43m/37'6". Fodor took 11th with a 11.12m/36'5.75".
It was another individual event victory for O'Handley in the 200m with personal-best time of 23.78. Temines finished eight with a 25.51, while Fodor ranked 13th with a 26.54.
Next, the Green Wave track and field program continues competing with the second day of the Virginia Challenge starting on Friday morning. The remaining three events of the heptathlon (the long jump, the javelin and the 800m) will be on tap for Tulane as well as the women's triple jump on the second day of the Challenge. The men's and women's 5,000m are also in action on Friday at the Warhawk Classic in Monroe, Louisiana.
