
Tulane Duo Both Finish 11th in ICSA Singlehanded National Championships

TAMPA, Fla. – In the first of two fall national championship regattas Tulane was represented by a pair of sailors at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships in Tampa, Florida, over the weekend. Both sailors finished 11th out of 18 in the field as Ava Anderson competed for the Green Wave in the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship and Matheo Capasso represented the Wave in the ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship.

In her quest to repeat as the singlehanded national champion, Anderson landed 11th overall in the race for the Janet Lutz Trophy this fall. She ended the regatta with 107 total points to sit just three points outside of the top 10. Anderson finished in the top five twice in 12 total races with her best result was coming in second in the eighth race.

Over in the race for the Glen S. Foster Trophy, Capasso also finished 11th overall in the field. He totaled 141 points through 13 races to land just nine points away from a top-10 result. Capasso posted seven finishes inside the top 10 in his 13 races including his best performance of the regatta coming in his final rotation when he won the race.

Up next, the Green Wave will be represented by Kelly Holthus, Martha Hughes, Zander King, and Brady Starck in the ICSA Match Race National Championships. The championship will be held from Friday to Sunday, November 15-17, in Oyster Bay, New York.
