TOURNAMENT DRAW
ATHENS, GA – Tulane has four players in action at the ITA South Sectional Championships in Athens, Georgia and the quartet took part in four contests on Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Â
Leigh Van Zyl and Campbell Ricci were defeated by Anaelle Leclercq and Ludmila Kareisova of Ole Miss 6-4, 7-6 (3), while Summer Chandler and Micah Pierce fell to second-seeded Valeria Ray and Bridget Stammel of Vanderbilt 6-3, 6-2.
Â
In singles, Ricci was downed by Nicole Teodosescu of Indiana 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 and Chandler was knocked off 6-1, 6-3 by Scarlett Nicholson of Georgia Tech.
Â
That duo was to compete in the singles consolation draw on Thursday, but those matches were pushed to Friday due to inclement weather. Tomorrow, Ricci will face Elim Yan of Tennessee, while Chandler is scheduled to see Indiana's Lara Schneider. Both matches will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
Â
Two hours before that, Ricci and Van Zyl will play fourth-seeded Kate Sharabura and Scarlett Nicholson of Georgia Tech. The next opponents for Pierce and Chandler have yet to be determined.
