
Tulane Finishes 17th at ICSA Open Fleet National Championship

BOSTON – Tulane University sailing moved up one spot in the standings on Monday to finish 17th out of 18 teams in the 2024 ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship. The Green Wave added six top 10 finishes in the final 10 rotations to bring the team's total to 12 in the 18 total rotations of the regatta.

Tulane ended the two-day championship with a total score of 438 which ranked 17th overall in the field of 18 teams. The final score for the Wave was tied with St. Mary's College of Maryland but finished behind the Seahawks in the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The B Division led the performance for the Green Wave ending with a final score of 195 to finish 14th in the division. Tulane added four more top 10 finishes in the division to close the championship with nine. Hamilton Barclay and CJ Ricci paired up to post five finishes in top 10 in the first 12 races before Zander King and Alex Makoid closed the regatta with four top 10 finishes.

Tulane closed the regatta in 18th overall in the A Division with a final scored of 243 through 18 races. The Wave deployed multiple combinations in the division featuring Thad Lettsome, Kelly Holthus, Sammie Gardner, Hope Breslin, Gillian Perrell, and Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez. Through the 18 races in the A Division Tulane recorded three finishes in the top 10 including a first-place performance by Holthus and Perrell.

The 2023-24 campaign for the Green Wave sailing team concluded with five regattas won including sweeps in the SEISA Fleet and Team Race Championships. Ava Anderson also brought home the 2023 ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship in November.
