Wave Completes Day Two of AVCA Pairs Championship
Nov 8, 2025 | Women's Beach Volleyball
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Tulane's two pairs each went 1-1 today at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex during day two of the AVCA Pairs National Championship. Skylar Ensign and Molly Trodd are in the semifinals of the 25th-place bracket with Katie Hansen and Emma Morris in the semis of the 41st-place bracket.
Â
Ensign and Trodd began the morning with a battle against a pair from North Florida. The Ospreys earned a straight-set win, though the Wave tandem did not make it easy. After UNF won set one, 21-15, Ensign and Trodd played it tight in the second frame before coming just short, 25-23. They moved to the bracket for 25th with a match against Boise State's top pair. The Broncos won the first set, 21-17, but the Green Wave duo roared back to win the second, 21-12. Set three was neck-and-neck, but Ensign and Trodd prevailed, 15-13.
Â
Hansen and Morris began play today against a pair from California. It was a back-and-forth three-set match that went the way of the Bears, but the Wave tandem made it difficult. Cal won the first set 21-18, but a strong response in the second, 21-15, by Tulane set up the decisive third frame. However, the Bears won 15-12. Sliding to the bracket for 41st, they matched up against a pair from Washington with another three-set thriller on tap. Hansen and Morris won set one 21-19, but the Huskies responded with a 21-17 win in the second frame. Tulane's duo bounced back in the final set, winning 15-9.
Â
Each pair will play twice again tomorrow to conclude the event. Ensign and Trodd will play the top pair from Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 9:15 a.m. on court seven tomorrow morning for a chance to play for 25th. Hansen and Morris will begin tomorrow's slate on court seven as well, playing Pepperdine at 10:30 a.m. A win for either pair will advance them to the final of their respective bracket, and a loss sets them up in the "third-place" contest of the bracket.
