Beach Volleyball Triumphs in Season Start

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Beach Volleyball shone as it began its 2025 season this weekend with the Green Wave Invitational. The Wave went 4-1 in matches and earned the highest record of all six attending teams and included two shutouts. Samantha Green also achieved her 50 match win career mark.
The Wave's first win was a 5-0 sweep against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday morning. Of 13 sets played, including the exhibition court, Tulane only dropped one. The University of Alabama Birmingham managed a win over the Wave for the second match of the day, providing Tulane with its only loss of the weekend.Â
Tulane began Saturday play at 8:30 a.m. and asserted a 3-2 win over #18 Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Outstanding performances by the four and five spots drove the Wave to its win.  Â
The Wave next took on UAB, who they beat 3-2. Tulane beat the undefeated Concordia University Irvine 3-2 during their fourth match. For the fifth and final match, the Green Wave beat the University of New Orleans 5-0.
Tulane went 18-8 in matches and 38-22 in sets; second place #18 TAMU-CC went 13-7 and 28-17.
Next up, the Green Wave will head to Texas for the Longhorn Invitational hosted by the University of Texas from Feb. 28-March 1.
