Bowling Wins Four in First Day of Flyer Classic

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Tulane Bowling picked up four wins from five matches in its opening day of the Flyer Classic hosted by Lewis University. A total pinfall of 4,914 and wins over Caroll University, Oklahoma Christian, Wright State, and the University of Indianapolis puts the Wave in good position for tomorrow's competition. Â
The Wave's first match of the day resulted in a 979-917 win over Carroll University. Tulane grabbed higher counts in games one (243-201), two (166-148), and five (218-193) to beat out Carroll's games three (180-170) and four (195-182).Â
Tulane next picked up a victory over Oklahoma Christian 981-935. Despite the Eagles claims of games one (184-182), two (211-188), and three (216-189), Tulane annihilated game four 241-152 and won game five 181-172 to defeat Oklahoma Christian.Â
The Green Wave then beat Wright State in the third math 996-994. The close contest saw wins from Tulane in games one (215-186) and two (197-187), which were enough to overpower Wright State's games three (211-210), four (236-226), and five (174-148).Â
Tulane dominated the University of Indianapolis 1,078-784 in the fourth match. The Wave swept all five games 247-161, 189-144, 194-176, 212-148, and 236-155.Â
Youngstown State prevailed in the final showdown 1,117-880. Tulane took games two (189-168) and four (187-184), against the Penguins one (234-155), three (265-183), and five (266-166).Â
The Green Wave totaled 4,914 points and placed 11th of 22 for the day. Jacksonville State, Wichita State, and North Carolina A&T placed first through third.Â
Tomorrow, Bowling will pick up play at 8:30 a.m.Â
