NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane swimming & diving is sending three qualifying diver to the NCAA Zone D Championships this week in Iowa City, Iowa.
The program is slated to have divers Anna Behrman, Paige McKenzie and Kelsey Weddington compete in the 1-meter diving championships starting on Tuesday at noon, March 11.
Background Information
The Zone Championships are the first step to the postseason for divers. Divers are able to qualify for the Zone Championships through their scores during the season.
Each zone has an automatic five spots in 1m, 3m, and platform, so 25 spots are spoken for. 16 more spots across the five zones are awarded to the top 16 placements.

Last Time Out
In the team's last meet on February 22, the program placed third overall at the 2025 AAC Swimming and Diving Championships with 1234.50 points. The third-place finish was the best for the team since also placing third in 2022. In the history of the program in the AAC, the third-place finish was only topped once and it was by the 2016 squad being the runner-up in the competition.
The Green Wave were the event champions in six events during the competition. Tulane won the 800 free relay (Lise Coetzee, Rafaela Sumida, Andrea Zeebe, Maya Wilson), the 50 free (Catherine Russo), the 200 free relay (Catherine Russo, Olcaytu Hatipoglu, Rafaela Sumida, Maya Wilson), the 200 free (Maya Wilson), the 100 free (Maya Wilson) and the 400 free (Rafaela Sumida, Olcaytu Hatipoglu, Catherine Russo, Maya Wilson).
Tulane had 28 All-AAC selections over the course of three days of competition. The list of All-AAC performers for the Green Wave this season includes Anna Behrman (team diving – 3rd place), Emma Brady (200 medley relay – 3rd place), Rachel Casebolt (team diving – 3rd place), Lise Coetzee (800 free relay – 1st place, 500 free – 2nd place and 200 free – t-2nd place), Olcaytu Hatipoglu (200 free relay – 1st and 400 free relay – 1st place), Paige McKenzie (team diving – 3rdd place), Catherine Russo (200 medley relay – 3rd place, 50 free – 1st place, 200 free relay – 1st, 100 fly – 2nd place and 400 free relay – 1st place), Rafaela Sumida (800 free relay – 1st place, 200 free relay – 1st, 400 free relay – 1st place), Maya Wilson (200 medley relay – 3rdd place, 800 free relay – 1stt place, 50 free – 2nd place, 200 free relay – 1st place, 200 free – 1st place, 400 free relay – 1st place), Andrea Zeebe (800 free relay – 1st place, 100 back – 2nd place and 200 back – 3rd place).
A Tulane swimmer or diver has been honored with an AAC Weekly Award a total of 10 this season: Catherine Russo (Swimmer – Oct. 1), Rachel Casebolt (Diver – Oct. 1), Andrea Zeebe (Swimmer – Oct. 22), Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (Freshman Swimmer – Oct. 22), Gwen Shahboz (Swimmer – Nov. 5), Maya Wilson (Swimmer – Jan. 7), Wilson (Swimmer – Jan. 28), Petropoulou (Freshman Swimmer – Jan. 28), Kelsey Weddington (Freshman Diver – Jan. 28) and Weddington (Freshman Diver – Feb. 4).
Head Coach Amanda Caldwell is in her third year leading the program. The team is coming off an outstanding 2023-24 season that resulted in 64 lifetime bests, 31 all-time top-10 school marks, four school records, an AAC individual title, an AAC Freshman of the Year Award, 11 National Invite Championship Qualifiers, a Zone Diver Qualifier and an NCAA qualifier.
The program returns 12 swimmers & divers from last season in Anna Behrman, Emma Brady, Rachel Casebolt, Taylor Cekay, Reese Dunkenberger, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Olcaytu Hatipoglu, Paige McKenzie Sydney Mullin, Gwen Shahboz, Ece Tanriverdi and Andrea Zeebe. The squad also is welcoming in 11 newcomers in Layla Allen, Lise Coetzee, Charley Floyd, Phoebe Johnson, Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou, Catherine Russo, Eva Shawver, Rafaela Sumida, Lily Von Herbulis, Kelsey Weddington and Maya Wilson.
The swimmers will next be in action as the team's qualifiers will head to National Invitational Championship on March 12. The team is expected to send the majority of the squad to the competition.
