Beach Volleyball Reigns at Heineken Queen’s Cup

HONOLULU – Tulane Beach Volleyball shone during their weekend tournament, the Heineken Queen's Cup, hosted by the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa from March 6 to March 8. The Wave went 4-1 in their matches, including a triumph over the ranked University of Washington.
Tulane began their play on March 6 against No. 15 Hawaii, who they faced for the first time since 2016 and for the second time ever. The 'Bows defended their home courts with a 4-1 win, with Skylar Ensign and Gigi Gallegos stood as the sole winning Wave pair over the Rainbow Wahine.
The Green Wave had a rigorous day, next taking on No. 16 Washington. The Wave beat the Huskies 3-2, with Tulane sweeping each of their wins. Tulane is now 2-0 against Washington in contests.
Tulane went entirely undefeated on Friday, first sweeping the University of San Francisco 5-0 and then shutting out Chaminade University 5-0.
In their final match, Tulane took on Saint Mary's College of California on Sunday, March 8. The Wave cut out a 3-2 over the Gaels. Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign had an epic clinch for the Wave, winning their set in three. Their pairs matchup was the final dual to finish and the decider of the 2-2 game. Trodd and Ensign won 15-13 in the third to claim the dub for the Wave.
Trodd won the tournament's Aloha Spirit Award for her encouragement and participation.
Next up, the Wave will roll to Sugar Beach, LA for SLU's Sugar Beach Bash on March 14 and 15.
