
Five Named USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today its 2025 NCAA Division I men's and women's cross country All-Academic Athletes and Teams. Both the Tulane men's and women's cross country teams were honored alongside five student-athletes.
The women's team posted a 3.62 GPA with the Green Wave men garnering a 3.39 mark. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
Five total Green Wave student-athletes were recognized, one from the women's team and four from the men's team. Petra Dos Santos, a junior from Lisbon, Portugal, was the lone women's honoree. She is a biomedical infomatics major. From the men's team, Rogerio Amaral, Bernard Cheruiyot, Illia Kunin, and Zach Van Houten garnered the distinction. Amaral, a junior native of Coimbra, Portugal, is an anatomy major. Cheruiyot, a sophomore native of Eldoret, Kenya, is an exercise science major. Kunin, a junior from Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, is an energy management major. Graduate student Van Houten is from East Meadow, New Jersey, and a sports studies major.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
