IRVING, TX – The Tulane football team saw redshirt junior defensive back Kevin Adams III recognized by the American Conference with his selection as the league's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Oct. 19.
Adams led the defensive effort for Tulane with nine tackles, a pair of interceptions and a fumble recovery in the team's 31-17 conference victory over Memphis. He is the first Tulane player to record two interceptions in the same game Javion White also recorded a pair of interceptions against Northwestern last season in the season opener (8/30/25). In 2026, Adams ranks second in the conference in interceptions (2) and in solo tackles (39). He is fourth in total tackles (53) and is tied for fifth in fumbles recovered (1).
The Tulane defense totaled seven sacks and forced six turnovers in the Friday night victory over Memphis. Tulane became the first FBS team to record at least six takeaways and seven sacks since Louisville in Oct. 2022 vs. Wake Forest. Tulane's six turnovers forced was the most for the program since forcing eight against Army during the 2003 season (9/20/03).
The selection was the third weekly honor by the league office for a Tulane football player this season. He is the first Tulane player to be named Defensive Player of the Week since Santana Hopper last season (9/25/25).
