
Swimming In 18th Following First Two Days of the National Invitational Championships

OCALA, FL – Sophomore Lise Coetzee placed 12th in the 200 free to help lead the Tulane swimming team on the second day of the National Invitational Championships on Friday, March 13, at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Florida. The team is ranked 18th overall of 52 teams to score points with 124 points following the first two days of competition.
Coetzee swam a 1:48.69 to finish 12th overall in the 200 free.
Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou took 15th in the 400 IM (4:20.23) while teammate Gwen Shahboz placed ninth in the event (4;23.80).
The 200 free relay team of Marin Shimkus, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Eliza Lennox and Nicole Fant earned 18th with a 1:42.48.
the 800 free relay team of Shahboz, Coetzee, Mary Kate Kupsky, and Phoebe Johnson took 29th with a 7:35.49.
Shimkus was the team's highest finisher in the preliminaries of the 100 back in 35th place with a 55.60.
Bisquerra placed 27th in the 100 breast (1:03.08).
Lennox took 21st in the 100 fly (55.11).
The events on Saturday, March 14, during the third and final day of competition are the preliminaries for 100 IM, 100 Free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay,1000/1650 free starting at 8:30 a.m. The finals are set for 5 p.m. and feature the 200 medley relay team plus the finals for the events listed above.
