Tulane Concludes Day Two of Raleigh Relays
Mar 27, 2026 | Track & Field
RALEIGH, N.C. – Cara Salsberry highlighted a successful second day at the Raleigh Relays for Tulane Friday at the Paul Derr Track Facility, as she placed ninth in the discus with a top-five mark in program history. Alex Sharp and Blezzin Kimutai also shined in women's distance events.
The day began with field competitions, and Cara Salsberry started the day off with a bang for Tulane. In the discus, she hurled a 48.22m, which placed her ninth. The mark is the third best in program history. This comes after she tallied the fourth-best mark in program history just last week.
On the track, the Wave shined brightest in the distance events. Alex Sharp ran the third-best mark in program history in the 3,000m steeplechase with her time of 10:29.91 as she placed 24th. Allison Hall placed 53rd with a time of 11:05.69, a new personal best and the eight-best mark in program history. In the 5,000m, Blezzin Kimutai placed 13th with her time of 15:54.81, which would have been the best in program history if not for her own time of 15:52.12 from one year ago. She remains the only athlete in program history to break 16 minutes in the event.
In the 100m hurdles, Sofie Groeninger was 61st with a mark of 14.97. In the standard 100m, Zaria Parker just missed entering the program's all-time top 10 with a time of 11.82, 23rd in the field. Brianna Brand was 48th with a time of 12.08, and Bella Carroll ran a 12.52 to place 104th.
Tulane had four runners in the 400m, two women and two men. Nahema Dumonteil Cabanas led the way for the women with a time of 56.35, placing 46th. Marissa Gordon was 69th with her mark of 57.05. For the men, Alexander Montoro led the way with his time of 50.73, good for 112th. Andrew Bamberg was 119th with a time of 51.49, a new personal best.
A trio of Wave women raced in the 1,500m, led by Dana Rojas Vazquez and her time of 4:29.99. She placed 105th. Jasper Newton delivered a personal best of 4:34.79 to place 148th, and Eliza Brand was 194th with a mark of 4:42.39.
The third and final day of the meet takes place tomorrow, beginning with field events once more. Tulane's first action comes in the women's pole vault and women's long jump, both of which begin at 9:00 a.m. CT. Track events start up at 10:15 a.m. CT with the women's 4x100m relay. The event will stream on ACC Network Xtra during a three-hour window between 2-5 p.m. CT.
