Two Tulane Pairs Earn AVCA Top Flight Honors
May 1, 2026 | Women's Beach Volleyball
NEW ORLEANS – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today its winners of the AVCA Top Flight Award with a duo of Green Wave pairs honored. Molly Trodd and Skylar Ensign earned recognition at both flight one and two while Emma Morris and Katie Hansen secured their nod at the second flight.
These are Tulane's first Top Flight honorees since 2024. Ensign earns the recognition for the second time in her career while Trodd, Hansen, and Morris all snag the honor for the first time.
Ensign and Trodd are 29-8 on the campaign between the top two flights, going 17-4 at No. 1 and 12-4 at No. 2. They were named the CUSA Pair of the Tournament after Tulane's historic conference championship win. They have five ranked wins on the season. Among the 80 total pairs recognized across all levels of collegiate beach volleyball, Trodd and Ensign are the only tandem to earn the honor at two different flights.
Hansen and Morris are 27-11 across the top two flights this season with their 17-5 mark at No. 2 securing them AVCA recognition. The duo were named to the CUSA All-Tournament Team and remain on a tear, boasting 12-straight wins entering this weekend's NC Beach Volleyball Championship, the longest streak by a Tulane pair this season. This is not the first conference honor for Morris this season, as she was previously named to the CUSA All-Academic Team. They have four ranked victories this season.
The Top Flight program, now in its eighth year, recognizes beach volleyball pairs who compete in at least 15 matches together at a specific flight and win at least 75 percent of their matches. This year, 80 pairs representing 35 schools — from all three NCAA divisions, NAIA and Two-Year Colleges — have earned Top Flight status. Tulane was one of only three CUSA programs with Top Flight representation, joining UAB (two pairs) and Missouri State (four pairs).
Tulane is 26-13 on the campaign after winning the CUSA championship last weekend. This is the first conference title in program history, and the Green Wave will make the program's first appearance in the National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship later today. Ranked No. 20 and seeded No. 14, Tulane opens against UCLA, No. 3 in both ranking and seed, at 3:00 p.m. The tournament is held at Gulf Place in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Tulane's first-round match-up will air on ESPN2 with separate streams of each individual court available on ESPN+.
