Zimet Named CUSA Coach of the Year, Five Tulane Players Honored
May 1, 2026 | Women's Beach Volleyball
DALLAS – Conference USA announced today its postseason awards for beach volleyball as voted on by the league's head coaches. Tulane racked up in the voting, securing six total honorees across the all-conference teams and specialty awards. Head coach Eyal Zimet was named CUSA Coach of the Year while Skylar Ensign, Katie Hansen, Emma Morris, and Molly Trodd were all named to the All-CUSA First Team. Amirah Ali was also honored on the second team.
The five players honored are second most in program history behind the six honorees of last season's squad. However, the four first-team selections for the Green Wave are the most ever in program history. The five total players on the all-conference teams are the most by any team in the league this season. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Zimet earns CUSA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career, also snagging the award in 2024. Under Zimet's guidance, Tulane won the CUSA championship for the first time in program history, and the Wave will make the program's first appearance in the National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship later today. At 26-13 on the campaign, Tulane has secured 20-plus wins in six-straight seasons.
Ensign and Trodd each earn their third All-CUSA nods. This is Ensign's third time selected to the first team, and Trodd is making her first appearance on the first team after securing second-team honors the past two seasons. The pair are 29-8 on the campaign between the top two flights, going 17-4 at No. 1 and 12-4 at No. 2. They were named the CUSA Pair of the Tournament after Tulane's historic conference championship win. They have five ranked wins on the season. Earlier today, Trodd and Ensign secured AVCA Top Flight recognition for both flights one and two. They are the only pair across 80 honored in the entirety of collegiate beach volleyball to earn Top Flight status for two different flights.
Hansen and Morris are both making their first All-CUSA appearances. Across the top two flights this season, they are 27-11 with a 10-6 record at No. 1 and 17-5 mark at No. 2. The duo were named to the CUSA All-Tournament Team and remain on a tear, boasting 12-straight wins entering this weekend's NC Beach Volleyball Championship, the longest streak by a Tulane pair this season. This is not the first conference honor for Morris this season, as she was previously named to the CUSA All-Academic Team. They have four ranked victories this season. Earlier today, Hansen and Morris also notched AVCA Top Flight recognition, securing the award for the second flight.
Ali secures her first All-CUSA honor as Tulane's lone second-teamer. She is 25-13 at flight three with multiple partners, primarily pairing with Tawny Ensign to the tune of a 20-8 record. Her 25 individual wins are the program's record for a season at the third flight, and her 20 victories with Ensign are the most by a pair at flight three for a campaign in program history. She has three ranked wins, including the clinching triumph over No. 19 and top-seeded Florida Atlantic to secure the CUSA championship. Ali delivered the clinching kill against the Owls to cement her place in Tulane history.
Tulane is ranked No. 20 in the latest AVCA coaches poll and seeded 14th for the NC Beach Volleyball Championship. The Green Wave opens against UCLA, No. 3 in both ranking and seed, at 3:00 p.m. at Gulf Place. The contest will air on ESPN2 with separate streams of each court also available on ESPN+.
