Tulane Bowling Alumni Spotlight: Michelle Ng
May 29, 2026 | Women's Bowling
Tulane bowling's alumni spotlight series continues as the program now highlights Michelle Ng, a 2018 graduate of Tulane University. Ng double majored and earned degrees in finance and management and currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst at Blizzard Entertainment.
Â
Originally from Singapore, Ng chose Tulane because of the school's strong academic standing, the unique location of New Orleans, and the positive experience of her recruiting visit. She was quickly introduced to a warm and supportive environment by the coaches and team, which immediately stood out to her. Coupled with the beautiful campus and favorable weather, Ng noted that Tulane felt like the ideal place for her to grow both academically and athletically. The environment she experienced on her visit was not just for show – it was her reality when she arrived in Uptown. The camaraderie she shared with her teammates and the trips they took together were her favorite things about Tulane. Her teammates became her family away from home, and Ng credited those relationships as her greatest takeaway from her time with the Green Wave.
Â
Truly exemplifying the tight-knit culture of the Wave's bowling program, Ng's favorite memory from her time as a Tulane bowler was when the team held a prom for her. Though a staple of American culture, Singapore does not hold proms, so when Ng shared with her teammates that she had never had one they got to work. Concocting a theme of "Under the Sea," the Wave bowlers went all out with streamers and even a kiddie pool to provide Ng a special and unforgettable experience.
Â
A member of the team from 2014 to her graduation in 2018, Ng was an immediate standout as a freshman and pieced together one of the program's most decorated careers. Across her four seasons of competition, Ng collected five all-tournament team honors and was thrice named NTCA All-America Honorable Mention. She garnered that prestigious honor three seasons in a row beginning in 2016, and in doing so she became the first Wave bowler to ever achieve All-America recognition. She was also the first Tulane bowler to earn multiple All-America honors in a career, and her three selections are second most in program history behind only Madison McCall's four.
Â
Ng's successes are not just limited to the lanes or the Tulane classrooms. After graduating, she worked in PwC Singapore for a few years before attending UC Irvine to pursue her master's degree in business analytics. Still residing in Irvine, California, Ng is seeing further success in her finance career at Blizzard Entertainment after prior stops at NBC Universal and Universal Studios Hollywood. With Blizzard, Ng works in revenue forecasting for the World of Warcraft video game franchise while managing marketing expenses as well.
Â
As evidenced by her post-graduate success, Ng said that her biggest takeaway from Tulane bowling was "learning how to perform under pressure while still relying on the strength of a team." She added, "Competitive bowling required constant communication and trust in my teammates during tournaments. That experience shaped how I approach challenges today, such as challenging myself and working collaboratively to achieve strong results." These takeaways pay dividends for Ng, as her financial roles in the entertainment industry have pitted her against ever changing consumer demand, wherein she has to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and help leadership make informed decisions.
Â
As one of the program's brightest stars and most successful bowlers, Ng delivers a key message to current and future Green Wave bowlers, saying, "The teammates you meet come from different lives, and we all grew up in different surroundings. Learn to understand one another, and please do not let miscommunication and misinterpretation of words stand in the way of girlhood. We are only stronger together!"
Â
From her time as an athlete to her post-graduate career, Ng has displayed and lived her own advice to a plethora of successes. Not only did she set a standard for Tulane bowlers on the lanes, she is a prime example of the success that can come from hard work, dedication, and a Tulane University degree.
