Tulane Dominates Opening Weekend in Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Tulane University sailing claimed first place in every competition on the water during its first weekend of the 2026 fall season. The Green Wave opened the year cruising to victory in the SEISA Match Race and Singlehanded Championships as well as the Lone Star Regatta hosted by Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.

Skipper Kelly Holthus set the tone for the weekend for the Wave alongside crew Christian Ebbin, Martha Hughes, Hamilton Barclay, and Ava Anderson in the SEISA Match Race Championship. Tulane dominated its matchup against Texas A&M in the championship regatta winning all three races to secure its fifth consecutive match race title.

In the SEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship Anderson continued not only Tulane's winning ways on the weekend but also the winning momentum of her Green Wave career. She rolled to victory with a total score of nine through six races and notch her fourth consecutive singlehanded conference championship. Anderson was joined in the singlehanded competition by Oakley Cunningham, Paloma Arrigo, and Perrin Mueller. Cunningham finished second followed by Arrigo in third and Mueller in fourth.

Up next in the SEISA Open Singlehanded Championship the Wave was represented by Barclay, Tate Christopher, and Alejo Di Blasi. Barclay dominated the races finishing first in all five races to record his third consecutive singlehanded conference title. Meanwhile, Christopher placed third and Di Blasi finished fourth in the championship regatta.

Lastly, Tulane picked up another victory ending with a total score of 38 across 10 rotations in the Lone Star Regatta. Representing the Green Wave and finishing first in the competition from the B Division were skippers Merritt Sellers and Mueller with crew Maura McPartlin and Hughes. That quartet for the Wave ended with a total score of 18 while winning four races. Over in the A Division skippers Eliza Corral and Paloma Arrigo raced with crew Jonah Wozniak to place second overall with a final score of 20 including five race victories.

Up next, Tulane will return home for the Green Wave Scrimmage on Lake Pontchartrain on Saturday, September 19.
