Football’s Jaylin Lucas Honored By the American Conference

IRVING, TX – The Tulane football team saw redshirt senior running back Jaylin Lucas recognized by the American Conference with his selection to the weekly honor Roll, the league office announced on Sept. 14.
Lucas carried the ball 11 times for 214 yards and a touchdown in the 28-24 Green Wave victory over South Alabama on Saturday. His 214 yards on the ground was the first time a Tulane running back has topped 200 rushing yards since Tyjae Spears ran for 205 in the 2023 Cotton Bowl against USC. His ground yardage was the most for a Tulane back since Spears ran for 264 against Memphis during the 2021 campaign. Lucas set a new conference record with his average of 19.5 yards per carry (minimum 10 carries). He also set a new Yulman Stadium mark with his rushing total.
The selection was the first weekly honor by the league office for a Tulane football player this season and the first for a Tulane player since Jake Retzlaff was also honored on the weekly Honor Roll last season (11/17/25)

Next, the football team (1-1) is on the road and travels to Manhattan, Kansas to take on Kansas State on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in a game that will be shown on ESPN2.
