Football’s Dickson Agu Honored as a Comeback Player of the Week

New York – Tulane redshirt linebacker Dickson Agu has been named one of the Comeback Players of the Week, the national organization announced on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Agu, who is coming off a knee injury that limited him to five games in 2025, recorded 14 tackles in the team's 28-24 victory over South Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 12, in his first game since sustaining the injury. His 14 tackles are the most for a Tulane player in a game since Corey Platt tallied 15 during the 2023 campaign. He is one of six players named as a Comeback Player of the Week for the second week of the season along with Jahiem White (North Texas), John Henry Daily (Michigan), Justice Haynes (Georgia Tech), Moses Walker (Rutgers), and T.Y. Harding (UMass).
The Comeback Player of the Year Award is sponsored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the Associated Press, and the Fiesta Bowl.
Earlier in the offseason, Agu was named to the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List. Since 2018, the Comeback Player of the Year has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of Associated Press College football writers and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored during an on-field ceremony at the VRBO Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on Dec. 30, 2026 at the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal game. Agu was one of 94 players on the preseason watch list this season.
The Tulane football program leads the league in red zone offense (1.000), are second in punt return defense (1.25), third in passing yards per completion (13.42), and are fourth in pass defense (213.5), scoring defense (20.5) and passing efficiency defense (129.11). Agu leads the conference in fumbles recovered (1) and tackles per game (11.5). Kevin Adams III is second in solo tackles (6.5). William Hudlow is second in punting (45.4). Kadin Semonza is second in yards per passing attempt (8.19). Destyn Hill is fourth in receiving yards (158). Jaylin Lucas is placed fourth in rushing yards (217).
Next, the football team (1-1) is on the road and travels to Manhattan, Kansas to take on Kansas State (2-0) on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in a game that will be shown on ESPN2.
