Football’s Jackson Courville Named as Semifinalist for the NFF Campbell Trophy®

IRVING, Texas – Tulane redshirt junior kicker Jackson Courville was recently named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation (NFF) for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy®.
The Campbell Trophy is college football's premier scholar-athlete award. The award is celebrating its 37th year and recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
The 206 semifinalists, each nominated as their school's sole nominee and best all-around student-athlete on their respective teams, represent every NCAA division and the NAIA. The group is the largest in the history of the award, eclipsing the previous record of 204 set in 2024. Collectively, the semifinalists boast a 3.64 average GPA and include 130 team captains, 24 All-Americans and 98 players who have already earned their undergraduate degrees.
Courville is in his first year at Tulane after being a member of the Ohio State football team last season where he went 4-for-4 on extra points and had four touchbacks in as many kickoff attempts. He ranks second on the team with nine points with a long field goal of 37 yards against Duke to start the campaign. Courville began his career and spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Ball State where went 26-for-34 on field goals with a long of 52 plus 54-56 on extra point attempts. He also was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America nominee and Academic All-MAC in 2024 and previously named to the watch list for the Wuerffel Trophy and for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.

These 206 semifinalists have a lot to be proud of, and it's a privilege to recognize their accomplishments."
Now in its 68th year, the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards Presented by Fidelity Investments have recognized 954 individuals, with the year's scholarships pushing the program's all-time distribution above 13.5 million. The awards were the first initiative in history to grant postgraduate scholarships based on a player's academic, athletic, and leadership accomplishments.

The Green Wave finished the 2025 season ranked No. 18 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls. This marked only the second time in four seasons, the third since 1998, and the fourth since 1970 that the program has finished a season nationally ranked.
Tulane won the American Conference Championship, securing its second conference title in four years. With an 11-3 record, it earned its first-ever playoff appearance in school history against Ole Miss. Notably, Tulane became the first team from Louisiana to make the College Football Playoff (CFP) in the 12-team format, qualifying as the fourth-highest ranked conference champion.
The 2025 season featured 11 wins in 14 games, including two victories over Power 4 opponents—the first time since 1988. The win over North Texas (34-21) secured Tulane's second conference title in four years.
