Freshman Duo Named AVCA Junior Beach All-America Honorable Mention

NEW ORLEANS – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its 2026 Junior Beach All-America Teams as selected by the AVCA's Junior Beach All-America Committee. In total, 24 athletes were honored with eight each on the first, second, and honorable mention teams. The Tulane freshman tandem of Naomi Lygas and Liz Selinger were both recognized on the honorable mention squad.

Tulane was one of seven programs to boast multiple honorees. TCU garnered the most with four while Stanford was close behind with three. The Green Wave joined Florida State, Texas, UCLA, and USC with two honorees apiece. Tulane was one of just two Conference USA programs to tout an honoree alongside Florida Atlantic and its one, but the Wave was the only CUSA team with multiple All-Americans.

Lygas comes to Uptown from Princeton High School in Ewing, New Jersey. During her high school career, Lygas amassed a school-record 1,220 kills. She was the 2024 New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year and earned multiple conference player of the year awards. Lygas was a two-time state champion.

Selinger makes her way to the Big Easy from Southlake Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas. At the 2025 BVCA National Championship, she helped her team to a third-place result out of 160 participants. She was also a runner-up at the 2024 BVCA Club vs. Club and finished third in 2025.

Tulane's AVCA Junior Beach All-Americans are part of a freshman class that is four strong. In total, eight newcomers join the Wave alongside nine returners. Tulane is the defending CUSA champion, the first title in program history. Head coach Eyal Zimet is in his eighth season at the helm and was named the 2026 CUSA Coach of the Year, his second such honor (2024). Â
