Perpetual Wave: Ben Weiner Endowment
![]() Gifts to the Ben Weiner Endowment, like all gifts to Tulane Athletics, can be designated to benefit a specific program. |
Through the Perpetual Wave Campaign, Tulane Athletics hopes to nearly triple the Ben Weiner Endowment Fund so that the principal reaches $20 million. Donations to the Ben Weiner Endowment, usually in the form of major gifts, are added to the principal, which remains intact. That money is then invested through the university's endowment managers, and athletics annually receives interest income from the fund. That interest income is used by Tulane Athletics to offset the cost of scholarships for its 320 student-athletes.
Endowment funds can be designated to benefit a particular sports program or demographic of student-athlete. Since the principal remains in place, a donation to the Ben Weiner Endowment continues to assist in funding scholarships on an annual basis.

In March 2004, Tulane announced the formation of the Ham Richardson Endowment, a $5 million effort that is part of the overall Ben Weiner Endowment and will fund scholarships for the Green Wave tennis programs. Details of the Ham Richardson Endowment were revealed during the Tennis Alumni Weekend, highlighted by a luncheon and appearance of Richardson, one of Tulane's all-time tennis greats.
