NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The New Orleans Saints have committed $20,000 towards Tulane Athletics "Green Team" campaign; it was announced today by the team. In a combination of personal funds from Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis and Head Coach Jim Haslett as well as money from the New Orleans Saints Organization, the team has proudly joined forces with Tulane's Green Team.
"It is important that Tulane remain a Division I-A Athletics program and this is something that we felt was the right thing to do, show our support," said Loomis. "We have a great relationship with the guys at Tulane, including Rick Dickson and Chris Scelfo and we feel that the job they do is second to none and they deserve our support."
"We felt it was important that we show our commitment. Mickey and I spoke about this once the announcement was made and feel that now is the time to act and so we are," said Haslett. "One thing for sure is that Tulane has been a model Division I-A Athletics program and our relationship with Coach Scelfo gets stronger each year and we think he does a great job as does everyone over at the Athletics Department. It is critical that we show our support for something that has been a part of New Orleans as long as Tulane has."
