Green Wave Athletics Reaches the Nation
May 8, 2003
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University Athletics averages over 2.3 stories per day in newspapers throughout the nation, according to the data from the Tulane NewsStand. The NewsStand is a sampling of stories published in newspapers, located at www.TulaneGreenWave.com, the official website of Tulane University Athletics.
The NewsStand is a fan-friendly feature of the Tulane website which allows interested parties to have a single-stop to read a sampling of Green Wave-related newspaper stories from the city, the state and the nation.
Since the features inception in mid-August, the NewsStand has featured 634 stories (through April). That figures to an average of over 70 stories per month and 2.35 stories per day about Green Wave athletics. The stories have appeared in 53 distinct media outlets, encompassing 19 states and the District of Columbia.
"The point of the NewsStand is to give Wave fans an easy way to read online news stories about their teams," said John Sudsbury, associate director of media relations. "This is just a sampling. On any given day, there may be eight or 10 stories about a Tulane event, we link to a couple of those to give fans options.
"A key for us is to have our fans throughout the country notify us of stories in their areas," Sudsbury continued. "It is impossible to monitor every newspaper throughout the country on a daily basis."
Fans can email Sudsbury (jsudsbu@tulane.edu) with any links to stories or just to notify him of stories in their local newspapers.
The links to the stories will remain on the Tulane site indefinitely, however, due to policies of the individual media outlets, the links may no longer be active, or they may link to different stories. However, the majority of the links are active for at least two weeks following the date of the story.
To access the link, visit www.TulaneGreenWave.com and then find the link for "Tulane NewsStand" located along the right side of the page. Simply click that link and fans can read all about the Green Wave.
