TulaneGreenWave.com Experiences Record Growth in 2002-03
May 8, 2003
NEW ORLEANS, La. - No matter how it is measured, www.TulaneGreenWave.com, the official web site of Tulane University's Department of Athletics, is experiencing another banner year in 2002-03. Measuring the site by unique visitors shows that in just nine months Tulane has already easily surpassed its 2001-02 totals. In addition, overall page views are at close to three million for the site, which had never had as many as two million page views prior to this year.
Last year was the first year that unique visitors were measured to the site and the Wave closed the 2001-02 year with 325,310 unique visitors. In just nine months of 2002-03, the website has been viewed by 367,826 visitors.
Page views, which have been measured since the site's inception in November of 1998 show incredible all-time growth. Tulane's page views in March of this year (428,604) are 687 percent more than the page views of the first month of the site's existence (54,489). A key factor in that difference, however, is the sheer volume of pages currently on the web site. Each day, Tulane's media relations office adds pages to the web site, giving fans more and more opportunities, or pages, to learn about the Green Wave online.
The site is designed and overseen by the Official College Sports Network (OCSN), but all daily maintenance and editorial content is directed by the Tulane Athletic Media Relations Office.
TulaneGreenWave.com has numerous features to enhance the Green Wave fan experience. In addition to statistics, schedules, rosters and biographical information, the site features live stats during games, live audio of radio broadcasts and online ticket order forms.
"The internet has become a major source of information for college athletics fans," said Donna Turner, assistant athletic director for media relations. "With TulaneGreenWave.com, we spend countless hours making sure all information is up-to-date while also providing new features for fans as often as possible.
"The internet allows Tulane fans and alums from anywhere in the world to get up-to-the-minute news about Green Wave athletics, all at the touch of a button."
