Law Enforcement Leaders Join Green Team
May 20, 2003
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Sheriffs Harry Lee of Jefferson Parish, Charles Foti of Orleans Parish and Jack Stephens of St. Bernard Parish have teamed up to support Tulane Athletics and the "Think Green" campaign by purchasing $5,000 worth of Green Wave football season tickets.
The tickets purchased by the lawmakers will be distributed to area youths and charities in each of those parishes.
"As a long-time supporter of Tulane Athletics, I'm happy to make this contribution which will allow us to give some young people in Orleans Parish the chance to attend football games this fall," said Sheriff Charles Foti. "Tulane University, especially its athletic program, is an important part of this community. They deserve our support."
"Tulane Athletics is a very important component of our community," said Sheriff Harry Lee. "We need to give them support and show that we appreciate what they do for this city and the way they do it. They run a model program and we are proud to join them in providing tickets to the youth of this area."
"We appreciate the contributions of these three leaders in our community who have stepped up to support our program," said Tulane Athletics Director Rick Dickson. "It's equally gratifying that the tickets will go to young people in their parishes who otherwise would not have a chance to attend a game."
The ticket purchase by the local sheriffs marks the second time in the last week that a community leadership group has joined the Green Team and made their support of Tulane Athletics known through the purchase of tickets. Last week, the New Orleans Saints organization, led by Head Coach Jim Haslett and General Manager Mickey Loomis, purchased $20,000 in tickets.
