Dickson Renews Call to Action - Focus on Season Tickets and T.A.F. Donations

Dear Friends,
You probably know by now that the Ad Hoc Committee of the Board currently conducting a review of Tulane Athletics, and the entire Board itself, has delayed a decision on the school's future in intercollegiate athletics until June 10th.
This delay, while relatively short in terms of time, gives our fans, friends and supporters in New Orleans, across the region and around the country more time to come forward with a show of support that will prove to the Board the passion for and dedication to Tulane Athletics that exists among the extended "Tulane Family."
Many of you have already responded to the initial "Call to Action" by renewing your season tickets, purchasing more season tickets, increasing your donations to the Tulane Athletics Fund, and encouraging your friends and co-workers to "Join the Green Team." I, the coaches and staff, and especially our student-athletes, appreciate all of the efforts that have been made in less than 20 working days since the start of the "Think Green" campaign. In that time, donations to the Tulane Athletics Fund are up 33 percent over this time last year and season ticket revenue is up 30 percent over last year's total. The Tulane Athletics Fund has added more than 600 new donors this year.

Our goals for 2003-04 are to sell 11,000 full price football season tickets, 1,500 men's basketball season tickets, 2,500 baseball season tickets and 1,000 season tickets for our women's team sports (women's basketball, volleyball, soccer). The goal for the Tulane Athletics Fund is to increase from $1.1 million this year to $2.3 million in 2003-04. In addition, we want to sell 500 of our new "Green Team" Business Plans - which offer a menu of tickets for all sports for $500.
In our five-year plan, which I presented to the Ad Hoc Committee on May 22nd, these numbers increase to a level of 15,000 football season tickets and $3.5 million in annual fund donations by 2007-08. We are also asking our supporters to make a five-year commitment to our program at the Division I-A level. This commitment is important to show that the support we receive is lasting.
