2008 Money Talks with Grayden Griener

It's 11:00 am on a Thursday and I just got up after a long, tough night in Tiger Town. Although our boys didn't prevail we played our butts off. I don't care how much better we are than LSU, it isn't easy going into The Box and leaving with a "W". Obviously we would have loved to win the last meeting between the two schools at the Box, but we didn't and that brings me to the point I'm trying to make here.
For the last - I don't know - 10 years, Tulane has emerged into the team to beat in Louisiana. Our rivals up the river had that label for as long as I can remember, but now it's different. We're also the team to beat! It's obvious in the attendance of last night's game. They weren't there to just see LSU. They came to see us as well. I knew this when the fire drill took place in the fourth or fifth inning. More than half the fans left!
They can say it was too cold or the wind was....whatever, it doesn't matter. The point I am trying to make is we shouldn't remember the last game as a loss at LSU. What we should be doing is reflecting on all the great moments that rivalry has so kindly given us over the past decade.
Now that the Box is gone, a new home will host a new rivalry. A new home, rivalry, and era for both schools! So don't be upset. I'm only stating the obvious when I say "Uh, of course we wanted to win, but that's not how the cards fell". I don't need to tell you that. The only thing we should be looking forward to is playing this season the way we have been and host a Regional. It's there we get our payback!
Coach Jones reminded us after the game that we still have one more game with these guys. Oh, and guess what kids? It's at our place this time! Until then, this is your captian, cashing out.
Roll Wave,
Grayden "G$" Griener
