Johnathan Galante, a 2025 Broyles Award nominee, is in his first season with Tulane as its Special Teams Coordinator after three years in the same capacity at Marshall.
His unit has had an incredible 2025, as kicker Patrick Durkin was named the American Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Year. Durkin, who is tied for second nationally with 24 field goals, has missed just three times this season and is fifth nationally with 66 touchbacks in 77 kicks. Punter Alec Clark has been masterful as well, leading the conference with a 46.82 punting average on his 45 boots. Both men earned the league’s First Team honor, while TJ Smith got on the Third Team at return specialist and Jason Arredondo did the same at Long Snapper.
In his first season as special teams coordinator, Marshall finished with a pair of blocked kicks and a blocked punt, which Dainsus Miller recovered for a touchdown.
Prior to Marshall, he was the special teams analyst at the University of Alabama (2019-2022) and the special teams graduate assistant at Virginia Tech (2017-2018).
Galante has his Bachelor's of Science in Consumer Studies and a minor in Business.
He and his wife, Nicole, have one daughter, Juliana.
