Shane Meyer, a highly decorated placekicker for head coach Willie Fritz at Central Missouri, is in his eighth season with the Green Wave in 2023 and serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Football Operations.
In his current capacity, Meyer handles a number of administrative duties for the Green Wave program including travel, scheduling of practice times and overall organization of the program.
In 2022, Meyer was selected as the FootballScoop Operations Director of the Year, an honor that is selected by the award's previous winners.
Meyer came to Tulane after he spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons in the same position under Fritz at Georgia Southern.
Prior to his time at Georgia Southern, Meyer served four and a half years as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach while teaching at Jefferson City High School in Missouri.
Meyer first reconnected with Fritz during the 2007-08 seasons as an assistant football coach and equipment manager at his alma mater, coaching the kickers, punters and long snappers while assisting the special teams coordinator.
Before returning to his alma mater, Meyer coached at Villa Duchesne High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was the Youth Sports Coordinator from 2006-07.
Meyer began his coaching career in 2002 where he traded the football field for the hardwood, and accepted the position as head coach of the California (Missouri) girls’ high school basketball team. His Pinto squad finished third in the 2004 Missouri state playoffs.
After graduating from Central Missouri in 1999, Meyer joined the Mules’ football program as a graduate assistant coach. An opportunity to play professionally put Meyer back on the field intermittently over the next two seasons with the Roanoke Steam and Norfolk Nighthawks in the Arena Football League Two.
As a student-athlete, Meyer was a four-time All-conference selection from 1995-98 and was a three-time Academic All-American.
During his All-America season, Meyer kicked 18 field goals to set UCM’s single-season record and still holds the career mark with 49. When his career was complete, he ranked third in career PATs (107), consecutive field goals (eight) and career scoring with 254 career points, the most by a Mule kicker.
In 2009, he would go on to be inducted into the Central Missouri Hall of Fame.
Meyer is married to another UCM alum, Christine. The Meyers have two children, Trey and Leah.
