Wesley Fritz is in his eighth season as Director of Player Personnel for the Green Wave in 2022.
In his current capacity, Fritz manages all recruiting events, maintains the Green Wave’s recruiting database and recruiting board.
Since taking over the Green Wave recruiting efforts in 2016, Tulane has had four prospects drafted and has had seven players earn spots on NFL rosters.
In 2021, Tulane had two players drafted in Cameron Sample (Cincinnati Bengals) and Patrick Johnson (Philadelphia Eagles). In the 2020 NFL Draft, former Green Wave stars Darnell Mooney and BoPete Keyes were selected by the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.
Since the NFL Draft moved to seven rounds in 1994, Tulane has NEVER had multiple players drafted in back-to-back seasons.
In addition, Mooney and Keyes had no official offers besides Tulane coming out of high school.
The Green Wave’s 2021 signing class ranked among the nation’s Top 75 according to ESPN.com, under Fritz’s direction. In addition, Tulane ranked among the best in the American Athletic Conference, as the Green Wave landed 18 247Sports.com three-star prospects.
The Green Wave’s 2020 class ranked ninth in terms of freshman production according to Pro Football Focus.
Tulane’s 2020 recruiting class was ranked second in the American Athletic Conference and 66th in the nation. This is the highest ranked recruiting class Tulane has ever signed. The Olive and Blue signed 20 high school seniors and three transfers. All 20 of the incoming freshmen earned a three-star rating from 247Sports.com.
The Green Wave’s 2019 recruiting class proved to be one of the best in the American Athletic Conference as the Green Wave signed 20 student-athletes for the 2019 season. Among the Green Wave’s 20 signees, 14 individuals earned a three-star rating from 247Sports.com.
Tulane’s 2018 signing class featured three four-star recruits and 18 three-star prospects. The class also featured individuals from eight different states, including eight from Louisiana.
In 2017, Fritz played a major role in the team’s 2018 recruiting class, as he helped Tulane secure one of the top recruiting classes in The American.
Fritz came to Tulane after serving the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Georgia Southern in a similar capacity under head coach Willie Fritz.
During his two seasons at Georgia Southern, Fritz worked primarily with recruiting and player personnel.
During his first season at Georgia Southern, Fritz helped the Eagles score the Sun Belt Conference’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class in their first FBS season.
Before earning his master’s degree from Georgia Southern, Fritz received his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Kinesiology in 2013. At Sam Houston State, Fritz was a two-year letterwinner for the Bearkats in basketball.
Prior to his time at Sam Houston State, he earned his associate’s degree from State Fair Community College & was named the “Male Student-Athlete of the Year.”
Fritz graduated from Warrensburg (Missouri) High School in 2008 where he played both basketball and football for the Tigers.
Fritz and his wife Rebecca were married in the summer of 2019. The couple welcomed their son, Grant, to the family in May of 2023.
