HIGH SCHOOL: A three-year letterman at Bryan who also suited up for the varsity as a freshman. A two-time academic all-state selection and a three-time academic all-district honoree. Kicked a 35-yard game-winning field goal in overtime against Cy-Falls as a senior. For his career, was 13-of-18 on field goals, including a perfect 4-for-4 from inside the 30. Had a long field goal of 47 yards as a junior. Handled punts and kickoffs as well, averaging 39.9 yards on 20 punts and 58.8 yards on 21 kickoffs as a senior. Also lettered in track and soccer.

PERSONAL: Full name is Jacob Thomas Hartgroves. Born November 8, 1986 in Bryan, Texas. The son of Tom and Kay Hartgroves. Ranked 17th of of 714 students in his senior class and was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. Plans to major in mechanical engineering at Tulane.
