Jake Stone begins his third season as the Green Wave’s Defensive Analyst in 2022.
Stone, who has three degrees from Tulane, is no stranger to the team, as he has operated in several capacities with the program since 2012.
In 2020, Tulane’s defense led the American Athletic Conference in sacks, as it totaled 39 on the year and averaged just over three sacks per game. In addition, Tulane ranked second in the league in yards per game, holding opponents to just 143.3 yards per game thanks to Stone’s assistance.
Stone also has played a key role in developing 12 players into AAC all-conference performers over the past three years.
The Cleveland, Ohio, native began his stint as a graduate assistant in 2016 where he would spend one year, serving as a recruiting graduate assistant. The following three seasons, Stone has worked as the team’s defensive graduate assistant.
During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Tulane’s defensive unit has ranked among the top five in the American Athletic Conference leaders in scoring defense and rushing defense. In addition, Stone helped direct Tulane’s 2018 defensive unit to record 41 sacks.
Prior to his appointment as a graduate assistant, Stone worked at Tulane as an undergraduate operations
assistant for four years and helped in areas such as team meal coordination, on-campus recruiting and office operations, along with evaluating Tulane opponents’ defenses and special teams.
Stone was a three-year letterman at University School where he played wide receiver and safety and helped his team to consecutive playoff berths in his junior and senior seasons. Stone was also a three-year letterman in basketball and track.
Since stepping on campus as a freshman in 2012, Stone has earned a Bachelor of Science in Management, a Master’s of Liberal Arts and a Master’s of Business Administration.
During the offseason, Stone got engaged to his girlfriend Chelsea.
