Michael Colosimo brings six years of coaching experience to Tulane University.
Colosimo joins the Green Wave staff after he spent two years as the Offensive Quality Control Analyst for the University of Tennessee football program. During his two seasons at Tennessee, Colosimo played a key role in guiding the Volunteers back into the national spotlight and was on the staff that led UT to the 2020 TaxSlayer Bowl Championship.
Working under the direction of offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, Colosimo oversaw opponent breakdowns, handled all self-scout duties and assisted in recruiting evaluations.
Prior to his tenure at Tennessee, Colosimo spent three seasons at the University of Kentucky as a graduate assistant working closely with Coach Vince Marrow and the tight ends. During his three-year run at Kentucky, the Wildcats posted one of their most successful stints in program, winning 24 games and making three bowl appearances. The Wildcats’ 2018 squad was their most successful season, as they finished No. 12 in the final Associated Press rankings.
Colosimo began his coaching career at the University of Pittsburgh where he also worked with Chaney. During his lone season at Pitt, Colosimo helped the Panthers to an 8-5 record and an appearance in the Military Bowl.
The Villa Hills, Ky., native was a two-year walk-on for the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2013 and 2014 under head coach Tommy Tubberville, where he helped the team to a 9-4 season and earn a bid to the Military Bowl against Virginia Tech in 2014. He saw significant playing time in the Military Bowl after an injury to starting quarterback, Gunner Kiel. In filling in for Kiel, Colosimo rushed for a team-high 54 yards on four carries and threw for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also joined the Bearcats baseball roster for a season.
Colosimo earned a degree in marketing from Cincinnati in 2015. He is the son of Dr. Angelo Colosimo who was a two-time first team Academic All-American running back at Colgate University.
